2026 Professional Services Contracts: Public Defender and Zoning Board Attorney

The Township of Delran is seeking proposals for 2026 Professional Services Contracts for the positions of Public Defender and Zoning Board Attorney through a fair and open process. Submissions will be evaluated based on qualifications, merit, and cost-effectiveness, with appointments for the calendar year 2026. Proposers must address how they meet qualifications and outline proposed fees, including hourly rates, retainers, or per-project fees. Key requirements include specific experience levels for each position, such as a minimum of six years at the New Jersey bar and four years of municipal public defender experience for the Public Defender, and seven years of experience in land use law for the Zoning Board Attorney. Proposers are also required to comply with various New Jersey statutes regarding affirmative action, statement of ownership, business registration, and disclosure of investments in Iran. Proof of professional liability/malpractice insurance will be required prior to contract award. Sealed proposals must be submitted to the Municipal Clerk and will be opened on January 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Proposals received after this deadline will not be accepted. The Township reserves the right to waive irregularities, accept or reject proposals, and enter into agreements for portions of services, selecting the proposal that best satisfies its interests.
