--- Document: Senior Center Newsletter Document --- January-February-March 2026 A Message from the President LOCATION 96 Mount Pleasant Ave East Hanover, New Jersey 07936 973-428-3062 HOURS Mon. - Fri. 9:00am—5:00pm ehseniorcitizenclub@gmail.com Happy New Year! Another year of New Year’s resolutions. As for me, it’s about good health, peace of mind and more friendships with senior members. As we continue to navigate on our golden years, we come to realize that it’s no longer about material things, pride and ego, but about our health, our love and our heart. The seniors’ club accomplished so much in 2025. All planned events were executed very well and beyond expectation. Membership is increasing significantly year after year, as well as the number of volunteers. The participation in various activities at the club continues to increase. The success of our club will not be possible without dedicated and motivated volunteers and membership cooperation and participation. Our involvement in the community affairs and mentorship to the young generation should continue because these are paramount for sustaining the success of our club. In 2026 the seniors 'club will not only focus on implementing various exciting events but also expand our valued added services to East Hanover Historical Society. We will manage and utilize the historical Cook House (Halfway House) for some senior outdoor events. The Old Presbyterian Church will be used as a musical entertainment site. The club is excited to reinstate the Garden Club to rejuvenate the Old English Garden with the help and guidance of Rutgers University Horticulture Dept. Once the garden’s basic structure materializes, the community will be invited to participate by expanding the garden area for public use. Well, we found out when our “senior aficionados” proved that one note could do it. Fun was had by all at our Disco Night event, successfully run by Teresa Kucenski, Marilyn Crofton and Rosalina DiPaolo. With disco ball table decorations, 45’s on the wall and a terrific DJ, an atmosphere of “Thursday Night Fever” was set. Appetizers, dinner and dessert fueled our dancing feet and trivia questions of the era, tested our memories. A huge thank you to all who helped make this such a fun filled night. By Maria Lanahan RECREATION DEPARTMENT The Township is lucky to have had such an amazing Winter Festival aided by the volunteers of the East Hanover Senior Citizen Club. It was a beautiful event full of fun and holiday cheer. I am proud to report that with the help of Mayor Joe Pannullo and the East Hanover Township Council, the upgrades in Phase 2 of the Lurker Park renovations are squarely underway and heading to the finish line. The tennis and pickle ball courts are available for use and the bocce courts continue to be a highlight of this phase. The turf soccer field has been home to many practices and games this past fall, and it is already proving to be a worthy improvement. I am also happy to report that Phase 3 , which will provide some of the most necessary improvements, is scheduled to begin work this spring. Although it will impact a lot of the annual events and park activities as the phase begins, the improvements will round out the renaissance of Lurker Park as well as enhance the infrastructure making the Park well equipped to handle all of our Township events for years to come. Have a Happy New Year and we'll see you at the park again soon!
