U & T Visas

This document outlines the East Newark Police Department's policy regarding U and T Visas for victims of qualifying criminal activity or human trafficking, in compliance with New Jersey Attorney General Directive 2018-6. The policy details the criteria for eligibility, requiring victims to have been subject to a qualifying crime within the department's jurisdiction, possess specific knowledge, and be helpful to law enforcement. The process involves referring aliens or their representatives to an East Newark Police Officer for inquiry. Upon satisfaction of the requirements, an assigned officer will execute the necessary certification forms (I-918, Supplement B or I-914, Supplement B). The Chief of Police retains the authority to withdraw or disavow certification if a victim ceases cooperation. This is a policy document, not a procurement solicitation.
