Eligibility Requirements for Certified Copies

This document outlines the eligibility requirements for obtaining certified copies of vital records. Eligible individuals include the subject of the record, parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, legal guardians, legal representatives, and authorized funeral home employees without a time limit. State or Federal Agencies for official purposes, banks or title companies to clear stocks or titles, incarcerated individuals through prison officials or parole officers, and homeless individuals through homeless shelters may also request copies. Individuals not eligible to receive certified copies include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, ex-spouses, and other non-related individuals unless they can identify the record.
