It seems that this
unprecedented cold
weather has slowed
everything down. So here
I am, the first few days of
February working with
Brandy to get our
newsletter out. I want to
thank our City Road
Department, Dave, Kyle
and Bill for the amazing
job they did plowing our
city roads. The county
roads in our community
are still in the process of
being fully clear. I am
attempting to work
together with the county
to get a better response
from them. The county
has a lot of roads to
maintain and a shortage
of well-working
equipment. Please be
careful with the low
temperatures we have
been experiencing for icy
spots.
Firemen’s Pond has been
used by skaters more this
year than I can ever
remember. Please be aware
that Mill Pond is not a safe
place to skate ever! More
than anything, I want our
residents to be safe.
As some of you might know,
Brunhilda, my Port Republic
Barred Rock Chicken did see
her shadow on February 2nd
and she wants me to remind
you that the first day of spring
is 6 weeks away, so don’t be
discouraged, eventually this
will all go away.

Transfer Station Reminder & Community Cooperation
The City of Port Republic Transfer Station is provided as a convenience for residents only
and is intended for normal household waste. Please be reminded that construction and
demolition debris, commercial waste, and materials from contractors or large renovation
projects are not permitted at the facility.
Misuse of the transfer station increases overall tonnage and disposal fees, which directly
impacts operating costs and, ultimately, taxpayer rates. Keeping waste within allowable
limits helps control these expenses and ensures the facility remains available and affordable
for everyone.
We ask all residents to please follow the posted rules and regulations and to work
cooperatively with our Department of Public Works staff when using the transfer station.
Our staff is there to help, but they are also responsible for enforcing these rules to protect
the City and its residents.
Your cooperation is appreciated and plays an important role in keeping Port Republic’s
public services running efficiently and responsibly.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Bill Montag, Director of Public Works

Cherry Danish Croissant Bake
21 oz. can cherry pie filling 1 T. lemon juice
6 large eggs 5 croissants cut into 1” chunks, stale or

2 T. sugar 8 oz. cream cheese, cubed
1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 and spray a 9”x13” baking pan with vegetable oil spray.
Separate the cherries from the mixture in the can, leaving about 1/3 cup of the
