Municipal Court Judge

The Borough of Raritan is seeking proposals for the appointment of a Municipal Court Judge for a three-year term, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 2B:12-4. This Request for Proposals (RFP) is being conducted through a "fair and open process" in accordance with N.J.S.A. 19:44A-20.5. The Borough Council will evaluate proposals based on criteria including experience and reputation in the field, knowledge of the Borough and the subject matter, availability for required meetings, and the proposed compensation. The primary objective is to secure highly qualified judicial services to maintain the integrity and efficiency of the municipal court system within Raritan Borough, considering factors that demonstrate the best interest of the Borough. The evaluation process may also include an emphasis on personal interviews. Interested firms or individuals must submit a comprehensive resume detailing professional information and qualifications. This includes the name of the firm or individual, principal business address, telephone and fax numbers, areas of practice, and a detailed description of education, experience, and qualifications, specifically highlighting experience as a Municipal Court Judge, Prosecutor, Public Defender, or attorney in Municipal Court. Applicants must provide at least four professional references, with three having direct knowledge of their work in Municipal Court. Documentation demonstrating a track record of success representing public entities is also required. Mandatory compliance documents include a Business Registration Certificate, an Affirmative Action Compliance Notice, and a detailed Fee Proposal, in addition to adhering to Equal Employment Opportunity and Americans With Disabilities Act requirements. Proposals are due no later than Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. Each submission must include one original hard copy and one electronic copy in PDF format on a CD. All materials must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked "Request for Proposals - Municipal Court Judge" and addressed to the Borough Clerk, Borough of Raritan, located at 22 First Street, Raritan, New Jersey 08869.
