Raritan Public Library Addition

The Borough of Raritan is soliciting sealed bids for the Raritan Public Library Addition, encompassing all incidental work as detailed in the Project Manual. This comprehensive project involves the construction of an addition to the existing Raritan Public Library located at 54 East Somerset Street, Raritan, NJ 08869. The scope of work is categorized as a General Contract for the Library Addition, requiring contractors to execute all necessary tasks and adhere to specified architectural and engineering plans to expand and enhance the public library facilities within Somerset County, New Jersey. This includes, but is not limited to, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work as part of the overall addition. The project aims to provide improved and expanded services to the community through modern library infrastructure. Prospective contractors must meet stringent qualification requirements to bid on this municipal project. Bidders are mandated to possess a minimum of three years of successful experience completing similar construction work. Furthermore, all bidders must be authorized to conduct business in New Jersey, with out-of-state corporations required to submit an affidavit certifying their authorization. Compliance with the Public Works Contractor Registration Act (Public Law 1999, c.238), effective April 11, 2000, is essential, requiring bidders to be registered with the Department of Labor. Additionally, bidders, their subcontractors, and suppliers must adhere to New Jersey Business Registration requirements, Public Law 1975, c. 127 pertaining to "Non-Discrimination" and "Affirmative Actions," and Public Law 1977, c. 33 demanding a Statement of Corporate Ownership. Contract documents are available for examination at the Raritan Public Library or can be obtained from Arcari + Iovino Architects, P.C. for a non-refundable fee of $50.00. Sealed bids must be delivered by hand to Marguerite Schmitt, Borough Clerk, at 22 First Street, Raritan, NJ 08869. The submission deadline is Wednesday, April 14, 2016, at 10:00 AM prevailing time, at which point all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid guarantee equivalent to 10% of the bid amount, not exceeding $20,000.00, in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond. A consent of surety is also mandatory regardless of the bid security type. The successful bidder will be required to furnish acceptable Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds. The Borough of Raritan reserves the right to waive informalities or reject any and all bids if deemed in the best interest of the Owner.
