2026 Distribution Main Improvements

The Village of Ridgewood, New Jersey, on behalf of Ridgewood Water, is soliciting sealed bids for the 2026 Distribution Main Improvements project. This comprehensive infrastructure project primarily involves the replacement and upgrade of critical water main infrastructure along West Glen Avenue in Ridgewood. The extensive scope of work includes the furnishing and installation of approximately 1,100 linear feet of eight-inch (8”) and 6,350 linear feet of twelve-inch (12”) ductile iron class 54 water main. Additionally, the contractor will install client-furnished materials such as two (2) 2-inch communications conduits and vaults, along with all associated appurtenances. A significant component of the project is the implementation of temporary water main by-pass systems for both the Glen Hill Pressure Zone and the Intermediate Pressure Zone, as the new water main is anticipated to be installed within the same trench as existing lines. A specialized crossing of the NJ Transit Railroad is also required, ensuring that the safe operation and maintenance of the existing railroad are not diminished. This specialty crossing entails the installation of a 24” steel casing pipe, 12” water main, 4” welded steel casing vents, fiber optic conduits, stainless steel casing spacers, end seals, casing pipe fill, cathodic protection anodes, and test station installation, along with all necessary excavation, backfill, and compliance with NJ Transit's insurance requirements. The project further encompasses service connections, valves, fire hydrants, site restoration, paving, hydrostatic testing, disinfection, dechlorination, and comprehensive traffic control measures, including two (2) variable message boards. The successful contractor is responsible for providing all labor, supervision, trade skills, materials, and equipment as detailed in the Construction Documents, with a strict completion period of 180 calendar days from the notice to proceed. This ensures a timely and efficient upgrade to the municipal water distribution network. Prospective contractors must comply with all applicable provisions of the New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act, the Public Works Contractor Registration Act (P.L. 1999 Chapter 238), and the Contractor Business Registration Program (P.L. 2004 Chapter 57). Bidders and their insurance/surety companies not chartered in the State of New Jersey must provide proper certificates from the Secretary of State indicating authorization to conduct business in New Jersey. Sealed bids, identified as "BID responding to BID NO. 2026-002 – 2026 Distribution Main Improvements. Do Not Open Until June 23, 2026 at 10:00am" and enclosed with the bidder's name, must be submitted to the Office of the Village Clerk, Village Hall, 131 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood, New Jersey 07451.
