C.A.R.E. Vision & Mission

This document describes the Robbinsville C.A.R.E. (Community Addiction Recovery Effort) program, an initiative by the Robbinsville Township Police Department. The program's vision is to coordinate an action plan for officers to assist individuals arrested for opiate addiction by providing immediate resources and access to treatment, acknowledging addiction as a disease and a nationwide epidemic. Access to treatment is contingent on the absence of current detainers like arrest warrants. The mission outlines C.A.R.E. as a standard operating procedure for police when encountering suspects arrested for possession of, or under the influence of, controlled dangerous substances. Officers offer a pathway to recovery by providing resources, access to treatment, and guidance from a trained drug counselor, often with the assistance of local opiate task forces such as Recovery Advocates of America, City of Angels, and InFocus Urgent Care. The program emphasizes immediate intervention in a safe, private setting to initiate the recovery process.
