Dear Friend, 
I hope this note finds you well. As many of you are aware, I pride myself on being a 
hands on Mayor who is accessible to the public 24 hours a days to answer/listen to all 
of your concerns. A topic that has come up recently and has caused some confusion is 
the new residential parking program that the Union City Parking Authority is introducing 
this Summer/Fall. The purpose of this program is to improve parking for all UNION 
CITY residents by making sure the cars being parked on our streets are those belonging 
to our residents. The enforcement should help create more parking spaces and keep 
non-residents from parking for longer than two hours, unless they are your visitors. This 
program was not created to cause any burdens or additional expenses on any of our 
residents. I pride myself in keeping cost in our city to a minimum and work very hard to 
continue offering the majority of our City services for free. 
After listening to residents voice their displeasure with having to pay a yearly fee 
for a parking permit and confusion about the different districts, I have decided to 
recommend to the Union City Parking Authority Director the following changes:
All residential permits regardless of district you live in, will be a ONE TIME administrative 
fee of $5 with TWO FREE visitor parking permits. After the one time payment is made, 
it will be FREE for every yearly renewal after. No additional cost will be charged for a 
residential parking pass after the one time fee is paid. I hope the new changes of just a one 
time fee of $5 for a residential permit and two free visitors permits help to keep our focus 
on our initial plan which was to create more parking spaces for residents and not additional 
expenses. 
The Commissioners and I will continue exploring new ways to help create more parking in

RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMITS


Estimado amigo,
Espero que esta nota le encuentre bien. Como muchos de ustedes saben, me enorgullezco 
de ser un alcalde práctico quien está disponible al público 24 horas al día para contestar y 
escuchar todas las preocupaciones. Un tema que recientemente ha surgido y causado cierta 
confusión es el nuevo programa de estacionamiento residencial el cual la Autoridad de 
Estacionamiento de Union City está implementando este verano y otoño. El propósito del 
programa es mejorar estacionamiento para todos los residentes de UNION CITY asegurándose 
que los vehículos estacionados en nuestras calles son aquellos que pertenecen a nuestros 
residentes. La ejecución debe ayudar a crear más plazas de estacionamiento e impedir que 
aquellos que no son residentes estacionen durante más de dos horas, a menos que sean sus 
visitantes. Este programa no fue creado para causar a nuestros residentes cualquier carga o 
gasto adicional. Me enorgullezco de mantener los gastos municipales en un mínimo, y trabajo 
arduamente para continuar a ofrecer la mayoría de los servicios municipales gratis.
Después de escuchar a los residentes que expresaron su descontento con tener 
que pagar una cuota anual por un permiso de estacionamiento y la confusión acerca 
de los diferentes distritos, he decidido recomendar al Director de la Autoridad de 
Estacionamiento de Union City los siguientes cambios:
No importa el distrito donde reside, todos los permisos residenciales tendrán una cuota 
administrativo de una SOLA VEZ de $5 con DOS permisos de estacionamiento GRATUITOS 
para visitantes. Después de pagar la cuota una sola vez, será GRATIS por cada renovación 
anual a partir de entonces. Ninguna cuota adicional será cobrada por un permiso de 
estacionamiento residencial después de pagar la única cuota. Espero que los nuevos cambios 
de un solo pago de $5 por un permiso residencial junto con dos permisos gratuitos para 
visitantes ayudan a mantener el enfoque en nuestro plan inicial, que consistía en crear más 
plazas de estacionamiento para los residentes, y no en causar gastos adicionales.
