As I have promised, I want to give you an update on some traffic safety improvements on Kennedy 
Boulevard from 5th to 49th Streets. Although Kennedy Boulevard is a County road, the Commissioners and 
I are forcefully pushing for common sense safety improvements on the road.

The Commissioners and I will not stop until we can make the streets in our city and the County road 
Kennedy Boulevard safer and friendlier for everyone every day.

We successfully worked with the County Roads 
Department and Engineer to change the sequence 
of the traffic lights so that no one can build up so 
much speed to make it through too many green 
lights in a row. Having a red light more frequently 
will make traffic slow down during peak hours.
The City Engineer and I have walked Kennedy 
Boulevard several times. As a result we gave 
the County Engineer a large list of requests for 
new signage, safety barriers, flashing lights and 
safety ballards (street poles) on various corners to 
protect pedestrians on the sidewalks.
Union City Police Department has issued over 
1,322 summonses to those driving at high rates 
of speed. Please obey the speed limit of 25 miles 
per hour on Kennedy Boulevard and local streets 
for your safety and the safety of others.
We are working with PSE&G on the installation 
of brighter street lights on Kennedy Boulevard 
from 5th to 49th Streets. This work is a priority 
each day.
On 22nd Street and Kennedy Boulevard, along the 
busy intersection, you will see that we have made 
a safety drop off and pick up area for parents 
taking their children to the Early Childhood Center 
on 22nd Street and Kennedy Boulevard. This will 
make it safer for the parents to pull over and for 
traffic to continue north on Kennedy Boulevard.

Como he prometido, quiero darle una actualización de algunas mejoras en las medidas de seguridad de 
tráfico en Kennedy Boulevard desde la calle 5 hasta la 49. Aunque Kennedy Boulevard es una carretera del 
Condado, los comisionados y yo estamos empujando con fuerza para mejorar la seguridad en la carretera.
Los Comisionados y yo no nos detendremos hasta que podamos hacer que las calles de nuestra ciudad y

Hemos trabajado con éxito junto al Departamento de 
Carreteras e Ingeniería del Condado con el objetivo de 
cambiar la secuencia de los semáforos para que nadie 
pueda acumular tanta velocidad atravesando varias 
luces verdes en una fila. Tener una luz roja con mayor 
frecuencia hará que el tráfico corra más lento durante 
las horas pico.
El ingeniero municipal y yo hemos caminado a lo largo 
de Kennedy Boulevard varias veces. Como resultado, 
le dimos al ingeniero del Condado una larga lista de 
solicitudes para nuevas señales, barreras de seguridad, 
luces intermitentes y postes en varias esquinas para 
proteger a los peatones en las aceras.
Departamento de Policía de la Ciudad de Union City 
ha procesado 1322 de citaciones cada mes para los 
que conducen en alta velocidad. Por favor, obedezca el
