This document outlines the "Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Business Recognition Program", a collaborative initiative by the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce, the City of Vineland (under its Sustainable Jersey program), and Citizens United to Protect Maurice River. The program invites local businesses to assess their current sustainable practices across various categories including general environmental practices, energy conservation, stormwater management, water conservation, and waste prevention. Businesses that complete the assessment form and check off at least 25 qualifying items are eligible for certification as a "Sustainable Eco-Friendly" business.
Certified businesses will receive a certification presentation, a display decal, and special recognition on the GVCC website, social platforms, and monthly newsletter. Interested businesses are encouraged to complete the provided assessment form and return it to the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce via mail, email, or fax. Resources are available for businesses interested in implementing more sustainable activities.

How Green Is Your Business?
Your business may be greener than you think! Go through this checklist and find out where you stand in your
efforts to be a sustainable business. Recycling, conservation, water conservation, local purchasing and promoting
green practices, all show your commitment to a sustainable community. Complete this assessment form and
return to the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce. If you check off at least 25 of these items, you are eligible
to be certified as a “Sustainable Eco-Friendly” business! We have joined together in partnership with the City of
Vineland under their Sustainable Jersey program, and in partnership with Citizens United to Protect Maurice
River to encourage and support businesses that are making efforts to be green.
GENERAL
____ Train all employees to follow environmental practices

____ Advertise “green” accomplishments through press releases or social media

ENERGY CONSERVATION
____ Complete an energy audit of our facilities
____ Turn off lights and electronic equipment when not in use
____ Install motion sensors & lighting controls
____ Install programmable thermostats to control heating and cooling / lowering when no one is in the facility
____ Insulated hot water heaters and pipes
____ Purchased Energy Star or EPA’s WaterSense equipment and appliances
____ Unplug chargers when not in use
____ Check and repair leaks around windows and doors
____ Replace fluorescent tubes with energy efficient fixtures
____ Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs or LED bulbs

____ Install a rain barrel or cistern to collect water for plants
____ Install rain gardens
____ Discuss your efforts and goals of storm water management with your landscapers

WATER CONSERVATION
____ Check water bill for indication of leaks / turn off water and see if your meter still runs
____ Check for pluming leaks and repair immediately
____ Clean outdoor areas with a broom, not water / avoiding runoff

____ Adjust sprinklers to water ONLY on grass and plants
____ Implement best practice outdoor watering times for greatest absorption
____ Install energy efficient toilets
____ Install waterless urinals
____ Install high efficiency faucet aerators
____ Install reminder signs in bathrooms to conserve water
____ Change window cleaning schedule to “as needed”
