Law Enforcement Consultant for the Mental Health Collaboration Grant

The Township of West Orange is seeking proposals from qualified Law Enforcement Consultants to assist the West Orange Police Department (WOPD) with a strategic planning initiative funded by the FY18 Justice and Mental Health Collaboration (JMHC) Program. The consultant will help the WOPD develop formal policies and data tracking processes to improve responses to individuals with mental health or co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse disorders. Key responsibilities include reviewing existing policies, consulting with other municipalities, establishing data and performance measurement systems, developing training protocols, and finalizing an implementation plan. The project aims to enhance officer and citizen safety and improve collaboration between law enforcement and mental health partners. The final report and planning guide are due by December 31, 2019.
