A History of the Wood-Ridge
Memorial Foundation
Founded in 1962, through the initiative of
the Wood-Ridge Lions Club, the Memorial
Foundation has funded over $1,200,000 in
scholarships to over 900 resident students.
The Foundation takes particular pride in the
fact that it has very low overhead, being
fully staffed by volunteers, and that almost
100% of the donations go directly to the
scholarship fund. The Foundation officers
and Trustees are also proud that no outside
professional fundraising organizations have
ever been used.
Scholarships are open to all Wood-Ridge
residents who are seniors in high school and
who are accepted into accredited colleges
and universities. The fund now stands at over
$1,500,000, which will permit scholarships to
be awarded to 15 to 20 students each year.
With continued community support, we
hope that this fund allows as many qualified
students as possible to receive an award
from the Foundation.
